Dogs for Adoption Increasing in Numbers in Almost All States

Posted by jparker

The number of dogs for adoption and cats looking for homes continue to increase in most areas of the U.S. In some cases, pets that are victims of foreclosures are lucky enough to find their ways to an animal rescue organization facility or a pet shelter, like what happened to several dogs abandoned in Dayton, Ohio.

However, majority of these abandoned pets are not as lucky. States with the highest foreclosure rates are also often the ones with the highest population of abandoned pets and homeless animals. With foreclosure rates and Miami cheap homes continuing to surge in this Florida city, it is no surprise that homeless pets are also increasing in number in Miami.

Surging levels of Florida cheap foreclosures have caused property values to decline in the state, further aggravating the problem of homeowners losing their houses to foreclosures. Amid these human residential problems are home issues involving domestic animals, with hundreds of pets ending up homeless as their former owners move out of the area or lose their ability to care and feed their pets.

Although these are really sad stories, there is still some positive news in some areas of the country in terms of cats and dogs for adoption and other pets left homeless by the housing market crisis. In Dayton, Ohio, five dogs recently benefited from the help of Basset Hound lovers who launched a campaign to find permanent homes for the five pets left by their former owner.

The pets were found at Bark Park after the owner left them there. A local reporter was able to track down the owner of the five dogs and she stated that she left the dogs at the park with a bag of food because her home is considered as one of the foreclosed houses for sale. She also revealed that she called a local shelter to take in the dogs, but was told that she needed to pay a surrender fee of $200.

Despite the difficulties encountered by the dogs and their former owner, the story ended on a positive note as three of the dogs for adoption were taken in by individual adopters and the remaining two were taken into a rescue facility in another state.
